Many of you have heard me rant about my carpool madness, my bi-weekly rush hour drive down New Jersey’s Garden State Parkway, to chauffeur my son and his friends to gymnastics practice.

For me, there are sure signs of Spring--the beloved seed catalogs start arriving in the mail, friends start talking about what to plant in their gardens and when they can start, and it’s time to sign up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share, if your own veggie garden isn’t big enough or you want to support your local farmers, who need us now more than ever. Gardening and growing food is such a partner to cooking together.

Every Tuesday morning before our little ones go to pre-school, Jackie and I get together to cook or bake and the boys play. It’s a quick two hours, but we often get a lot accomplished.

The real-time note on Facebook from my cooking friend Katrina popped up as I was posting about some food adventures. Katrina, in her first trimester with her third child, asked if sometime the month before the baby is due I could come over and big batch cook and freeze with her, stockpiling her freezer. What a great idea! Of course I will, and there’s nothing more helpful, especially for this soon to be family of 5, as they enter the baby-days again.

For those of you who regularly cook with your friends and others who are “converts,” you know how contagious it is. You’ve “been there done that” and are hooked. We’re excited to announce that a whole lot more women are about to discover what we already know to be so great.

If there’s anything more wonderful than a family recipe, it’s continuing the tradition by sharing it with children, family, and friends.

The idea of a sit down Sunday dinner with family and friends may sound appealing, but sometimes it’s easier said than done.
